READY FOR TAKE OFF: Operational preparation for the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)

We are delighted to be working on behalf of SDX AG – part of Allgeier SE since 2023 – to develop and implement operational preparation for the Electronic Flight Bag at our customer Deutsche Lufthansa AG. The EFB currently supports approximately 5,000 pilots in all aspects of flight preparation and execution, hosts applications (library, routing including avionics, crew briefing), and provides the infrastructure for persistence, communication, authentication, and UI. In addition, the EFB platform performs updates of documents and software components and communicates with the backend systems.

Our sister company SDX AG began developing the EFB together with the customer back in 2013. SDX has been responsible for maintaining the solution since 2018 and, most recently, for preparing it for operation.

We are therefore delighted to be working with SDX to provide comprehensive support for operational preparation at the customer’s site in Frankfurt. This includes the implementation and documentation of test scenarios in the laboratory and directly in the aircraft, as well as the validation of the CMS, through which all content, applications, and software packages for the EFB are provided.

The goal of our work is to ensure the reliability, functionality, and security of the EFB solution throughout its entire life cycle for Deutsche Lufthansa AG. With SDX AG as a Microsoft technology partner for software development, analytics, and GenAI projects, we have an excellent partner at our side.
